Objective: Students will be able to evaluate the resolution and denouement of "Macbeth" in order to determine the play's theme.

Do-Now: We know Macbeth must die, yet he cannot die by the hands of someone born from a woman.  How do you believe Macbeth might die?  Who else might die?  What else might occur during the play's final scenes?

Today: 1) In groups, read Act 5 Scenes 5-8

2) Watch the ending of "Macbeth"

Exit Slip: How is Macbeth able to be killed despite the fact that no one born from a woman can kill him?  (Macbeth’s death is the resolution of the play)  Describe the denouement of “Macbeth.” (What happens after Macbeth dies)  Based on the resolution and denouement of “Macbeth,” what do you believe is the play’s theme?  Give examples from the play to support this theme.

Homework: "Macbeth" Acts 3-5 Review Due WEDNESDAY!!!  Test on "Macbeth" Wednesday, January 22!!!  All Make-Up work Due Friday, January 31!!!
