ASSIGNMENTS:
Do-Nows:
Must be completed at the beginning of class in the allotted time. Your Do-Now should be a MINIMUM of THREE
complete sentences Monday through Thursday and a MINIMUM of FIVE complete
sentences on Free Write Friday. Complete
Do-Nows will receive a check (worth 10 points.)
Partially completed Do-Nows will receive a check minus (worth 5
points.) Failure to complete a Do-Now
will result in a “0.” If you are late to
class for an unexcused reason, you will not be given extra time to complete
your Do-Now. Do-Nows will count toward
your classwork grade.
Homework:
Homework will be due at the beginning of class the day after it is
assigned. Most homework assignments will
be worth 10-20 points depending on the length of the assignment. You should take out your homework as soon as
you enter class and place it on your desk.
Ms. Winberg will either check or collect your homework at the beginning
of class BEFORE checking Do-Nows. If
your homework is not checked or turned in at the beginning of class, it will be
considered late. If homework is late,
you will receive half-credit (5-10 points) for the assignment. If you are absent from class, you have TWO
days to make up your homework assignment from the day you are absent without
losing points.
Projects:
FOUR major projects will be assigned during the semester (TWO during the 1st
marking period and TWO during the 2nd marking period.) Projects will be worth 100 points. FIVE points will be taken off the project
grade for each day the project is late.
Tests/Quizzes:
FOUR major tests will be given during the semester (TWO during the 1st marking
period and TWO during the 2nd marking period.)
Each test will be worth 100 points.
EIGHT quizzes will be given during the semester (FOUR during the 1st
marking period and FOUR during the 2nd marking period.) Each quiz will be worth 25-50 points. If you are absent during a test/quiz, you
will have ONE week from the day you are absent to make it up before it becomes
a “0.”
Participation/Attendance: Your participation grade is based on your
attendance, your behavior, and your involvement in class. You will receive 100 points per week (20
points per day) for your participation in class during a normal 5-day school
week. If you are late to class, you will have 10 points subtracted from that
day’s participation grade. If you cut
class or walk out of class without permission, you will lose all 20
participation points for that day. If
you are absent, you will receive your full 20 participation points for each day
missed once you have completed all of your make-up work.
Classwork: Classwork
will be given in class EVERY DAY. Each
classwork assignment will be worth 20 points and will be due at the end of
class. If you do not have time to finish
an assignment in class, you may finish it for homework and turn it in the next
day without losing points. After the
next day, you will only receive half credit (10 points) for your classwork.
CLASS
PROCEDURES:
Every day when you enter
class you are expected to sit in your seat, take out your notebook and begin
answering the prompt written on the Smartboard unless an alternate Do-Now is
given to you. You will be given approximately five-ten minutes to
complete your Do-Now. After time is up, class will begin. Before
you leave, you are expected to return the room to the condition it was in when
you entered class (return desks to their original places, put away work, clean
up trash, etc.) Make sure all of your completed work is turned in before
you leave class. Always hand your work directly to Ms. Winberg (unless
asked to do otherwise) in order to ensure it is received and graded. Once your work is graded, it will be placed
in your class “OUT” bin on Ms. Winberg’s desk and you may take it.
MAKEUP
WORK: If you
are absent, you will have TWO days from the day of your absence to complete
make-up classwork without losing any points.
After two days have passed, you can complete any make-up work for half
credit. NOTE: If you cut class, you MAY
NOT make up your work!
CLASS RULES:
1) Come to class ON TIME EVERY DAY.
2) Be prepared for class.
