ObjectiveStudents will be able to analyze comic relief and dramatic irony in a scene in order to describe their effectiveness.

Do-Now: FREE WRITE (Write 5-7 sentences about anything you want)

Today: 1) Go over Exit Slips from Thursday

2) Watch "Macbeth" Act 1, Scene 7 and Act 2, Scenes 1-2

3) Review comic relief and dramatic irony.  How was comic relief used in "Othello?"

4) In groups, read Act 2, Scene 3 and Act 2, Scene 4.  How are comic relief and dramatic irony used in these scenes?

Exit Slip: Describe how the Porter is used as a comic relief in this scene.  Is this comic relief used effectively?  Explain why or why not.  Describe the dramatic irony in the scene.  Do you believe the dramatic irony was used effectively?  Explain why or why not.
