Objective: Students will be able to describe Avery, Berniece, and Lymon’s views on marriage in order to make inferences about the characters and compare their own views to those of the characters.

 Do-Now: T-Chart - Relationship Needs: Women vs. Men: On the left-hand side of the chart, list things women depend on men for in a relationship.  One the right-hand side of the chart, list things men depend on women for in a relationship.  ***It is okay to have some of the same items in BOTH columns***  Examples: Women depend on men for protection.  Men depend on women for sympathy.

Today: 1) Review exit slips from Tuesday

2) Discuss T-Charts

3) In groups, read Act 2, Scenes 2 and 3 pp. 65-80, filling out the graphic organizer (on the back of the T-chart) with each character's views on marriage and inferences about each character.

Exit Slip: What are your own views on marriage?  Which of the character's views is most similar to yours?  Explain.

Homework: Legacy Project Due FRIDAY!!!  Test on "The Piano Lesson" Wednesday, November 20!!!
