ObjectiveSWBAT evaluate Shakespeare’s use of figurative language in Act 4, Scene 2.  SWBAT evaluate Iago’s use of manipulation on Roderigo.

Do-Now: FREE WRITE (Write 5-7 sentences about anything you want)

Today: 1) Review Exit Slips from Thursday

2) Review Figurative Language: Simile, Metaphor, Hyperbole, Personification.  

Introduce "allusion": an indirect reference to someone or something, usually a famous event, person, or literary work.

3) In groups, read Act 4, Scene 2, finding examples of figurative language/allusion and evaluating the effectiveness of these examples using a graphic organizer.

Exit Slip: Describe how Iago manipulates Roderigo in this scene.  Next, explain whether or not this manipulation is effective, giving an example from the play to support your response.
