ObjectiveSWBAT describe how Iago uses Cassio to manipulate Othello and evaluate the effectiveness of Iago’s use of manipulation on Othello in Act 4, Scene 1.  SWBAT evaluate the effectiveness of Shakespeare’s use of dramatic irony in Act 4, Scene 1.

Do-Now: Explain the significance of Desdemona's handkerchief.  How was it made?  Who did it belong to before Othello gave it to Desdemona?  What magical powers does it have?  How could Desdemona losing it affect her and Othello's relationship?

Today:  1)(Pd. 1/2 Only) Go over Iago's "Evidence"

2) Review yesterday's exit slip.

3) Review dramatic irony.

4) Class will read Act 4, Scene 1.  Read Act 4, Scene 1 online HERE.

5) Class will watch Act 4, Scene 1.

Exit SlipWas Iago’s last piece of proof against Desdemona effective in convincing Othello she is cheating?  Explain why/why not and give evidence from the play to support your answer.  Was Shakespeare’s use of dramatic irony in this scene effective?  Explain why/why not by describing what effect it had on you as a reader.
