Objective: SWBAT: Analyze Shakespeare’s use of soliloquy and monologue in Act 1, Scene 3.

 Do-Now: Othello claims Desdemona fell in love with him because of his stories.  What do you believe causes two people to fall in love?  Explain.

Today: 1) Go over "Fences" Test.

2) Review soliloquy and monologue.

3) In groups, finish reading Act 1, Scene 3.  Complete the Monologue Chart as you read.  Read Act 1, Scene 3 online HERE.

Exit Slip: What does Iago reveal in his soliloquy at the end of Act 1, Scene 3.  What is the author’s purpose for including this soliloquy?  Is this soliloquy effective in achieving this purpose?

Homework: Quiz on Acts 1 and 2 of "Othello" on FRIDAY.  (This will include the notes we took in class on the Elements of a Shakespearean Tragedy!)
